  3. This system is used as a private online
  4. club.  It is  our aim  to  bring people
  5. together for relaxed, entertaining con-
  6. versation.   At the  same time,  we can
  7. serve as a way to  obtain  information:
  8. when there's  something  a member wants
  9. to  know,  he or she  frequently  finds
  10. that  another  member  of the club  can
  11. help out.

  15. QUALIFYING FOR MEMBERSHIP
  16.  
  17. Non-members do  not  have access to the
  18. all-important READ command.  Their list
  19. of commands is short and simple:
  20.  
  21. BYE ........ Disconnect from the system
  22. HELP .......... List available commands
  23. INFO ............. Display this article
  24. SEND .......... Let you write a message
  25. SPECS ........... Set your screen width
  26.  
  27. You can use the SEND command to leave a
  28. message  about yourself.   You can tell
  29. us what  interests  you,  or state your
  30. opinion on  something.   You can  leave
  31. several messages, on several occasions,
  32. if you wish.

  34. We  regularly  read these messages from
  35. potential members.  If we feel that you
  36. are the sort of person  who would enjoy
  37. our company, we'll make you a member.
  38.  
  39. In  most cases,  getting  accepted  for
  40. membership involves SENDing only two or
  41. three messages over the course of a few
  42. days.  After you've introduced yourself
  43. in this way,  call in  every couple  of
  44. days to  check  your  membership level.
  45. (The membership level  is  reported  at
  46. the start  of your  visit,  right after
  47. the announcements, if any.)
